Time to think carefully about social media ban

AT the Canadian Labour Congress national convention in Winnipeg last week, Premier Wab Kinew delivered a fiery speech to delegates about the need to restrict access by children to pervasive social media platforms.

Kinew posted highlights of the speech on his Instagram, TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) accounts. So did the CLC, and various unions whose members attended the convention. If you want to see more than highlights, CPAC, the public affairs cable channel, posted the entire speech on its YouTube feed.

Using social media to condemn social media may seem hypocritical, but when you look at the audience Kinew commands across his social media accounts, there is a certain logic. An admittedly perverse logic, but logic all the same.
